
OSU Gymnasts Defeat Washington

Corvallis, OR - Despite winning or tying for first in all four events, the ninth-ranked Husky women's gymnastics team suffered its first loss of the season at 23rd-ranked Oregon State. The Beavers rallied during their final event, floor exercise, to down Washington 196.050 to 196.025.
Despite turning in the better team score on bars, beam and floor, Oregon State almost lost the dual meet on the vault. The Beavers opened the competition on the event and scored 48.050. During its turn, the Huskies managed a 48.700 on vault.
The Beavers rallied to outscore the Huskies on bars and beam and pulled off the narrow victory on floor. The Huskies led the meet 147.000 to 146.700 entering the final rotation.
Senior Emily Pritchard led Washington's effort. She tied for first on both vault and bars. Pritchard, who leads the nation on bars scoring, posted a 9.925 to tie OSU's Tanya Ricioli-Hebron. Pritchard's mark of 9.850 on vault was matched by the Beavers' Chelsea Plourde.
Pritchard's two wins brings her event title total to six this tied for first on vault and bars to lead Washington. She scored 9.850 on vault and 9.925 on bars, the event is where she is ranked first in the nation. Molly Seaman took top honors on beam with a 9.950 while Carly Dockendorf won her second consecutive floor title with a 9.925.
Washington's Molly Seaman set a career high on beam to win that event for the second consecutive meet. Seaman scored 9.950, bettering her previous best mark of 9.900.
Carly Dockendorf placed first on floor with a 9.925. It marked the second straight meet she has won the floor competition.
Oregon State's Plourde won the all-around with a score of 39.475. Washington's Kelly McDonald was second at 39.400, her best score of the season. McDonald's best finishes were second on beam (9.925) and third on vault (9.800). Her beam score was a career best. Pritchard was fourth in the all-around at 39.350 while freshman Chelsea Bakken scored 38.950.
The victory was the 100th for Oregon State coach Tanya Chaplin. She was an assistant coach at Washington from 1990-1997.
Washington stays on the road for is second straight Pac-10 dual meet next week when the Huskies travel to Stanford on Jan. 30.
