Husky Golfers in Second Place at Bay Area Classic

Vallejo, CA - The Washington women's golf team is in second place after the first round of play at the LUNA Bay Area Classic at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course. The Huskies shot 24-over 312 on Monday and trail defending champion California by 16 strokes.
Washington was led by senior Louise Friberg and freshman Sung Ea Lee, who both shot 5-over 77. They are tied for 11th place in the individual standings. Lindsay Morgan is one shot back in 16th place and Michelle Grafos is two strokes behind the Husky leaders in 21st place. Freshman Breana Minnitti shot 17-over 89 and is 58th.
Washington sophomore Paige Mackenzie is not competing in the event due to a back injury.
California was led by Sarah Huarte who shot even-par 72 to grab the first round lead. The Golden Bears Sophia Sheridan is second at 74 and Vikki Laing and Anna Temple are tied for third at 75.
The final 18 holes of the event will take place Tuesday.
