San Marcos, CA - The Washington women's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of San Diego State's 20-team Aztec Invitational. The Huskies shot 30-over 322 and trail first-place Colorado State by 14 strokes. The tournament is Washington's first of the spring season.
The Huskies were led by junior Louise Friberg, who shot 78 during the opening round to hold down eighth place. Cal-Irvine's Stella Lee leads the tournament at 1-over 74.
Washington's other scores included a 79 by Lindsay Morgan, for 16th place, an 81 by Kelli Kamimura for 32nd, an 84 by Paige Mackenzie for 49th and an 88 by Michelle Grafos for 80th.
The final round of the Aztec Invitational will take place Tuesday.
