
Forty-One UW Rowers Earn Pac-12 Academic Honors

A total of 41 Washington men's and women's rowers earned academic recognition today as the Pac-12 Conference announced its All-Academic rowing teams.
A total of 20 members of the men's team and 21 women earned first-team, second-team or honorable mention.
Senior Luke El Khoury was named to the men's first team. Winner of the UW's Schaller Award for the highest GPA on the men's team, El Khoury had a 3.80 grade-point average as a chemical engineering major through the most recently completed academic quarter (winter, 2018). Seven men earned second-team status while 12 were named to the honorable mention list.
On the women's side, sophomore Carmala Pappalardo and senior Kenzie Waltar were both named to the first team. Pappalardo, from Salerno, Italy, boasts a 3.64 grade-point average as a pre-humanities major while Waltar, from Kirkland, Wash., is an English major with a 3.71 GPA. Another 10 women were named to the All-Academic second team while nine more earned honorable mention.
