UW Places 29 Rowers On Academic All-Pac-12 Teams

A total of 29 Washington rowers earned a spot on the 2016 Academic All-Pac-12 first and second teams, the Pac-12 Conference announced last week.
The Huskies placed 10 men and eight women on the first teams and five men and six women on the second teams.
On the men's side, four Huskies (Guglielmo Carcano, Harrison King, Jernej Markovc and Philip Walczak) earned first-team honors for a second consecutive year while Eric Benca and Lia Roberds went from the second team in 2014 to the first team this time around. Additionally, Finn Schroder earned second-team honors for a second time, along with having made the first team in 2014, while coxswain Andre Mattus made the second team for a second straight year.
For the women, senior Eleni Englert was named a first-team selection for the third straight year while both Jennifer Wahleithner and Vanessa Whattam earned first-team spots for the second year in a row. Additionally, Hannah Allen was named to the first team after having received second-team honors in 2014 and 2015.
Anouschka Fenley and Phoebe Spoors both moved from second-team honors in 2015 to first-team in 2016 while Allison Barstow, Sophia Dalton and Courtney Thompson made the second team for the second year in a row.
