#HopSaysThanks: Hopkins to Use Pac-12 Coach of the Year Bonus to Thank UW Fans With $15,000 of Starbucks Gift Cards

SEATTLE – University of Washington head men's basketball coach Mike Hopkins received a $15,000 bonus for earning Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors in his first season at the helm of the Huskies' program, and now plans to give that amount back to UW supporters in the form of $12 Starbucks gift cards.
"It was a great honor to be named Pac-12 Coach of the Year, but the reality is this is a tribute to our entire team, our program and the University community," Hopkins said. "I wouldn't have won this award without such incredible support, so I wanted to give back to some of the many important people who have made this a memorable first season possible, and have welcomed me and my family into this incredible Seattle community."
Hopkins will be on site to distribute gift cards while supplies last at Starbucks in Seattle's U-Village (located across from Pottery Barn) from 2-3 p.m. this Thursday, June 7. Huskies basketball season-ticket holders who present their 2017-18 ticket card, as well as Dawg Pack members who show their UW ID, will be given an additional gift card.
"Our team's mantra all year has been Tougher Together, and our fans are a huge part of that," Hopkins said. "The home court advantage they gave us definitely helped us win. This award is theirs as much as it is mine and I just wanted to say thank you to the Husky family for being there to grow with us."
