In just her second season with the Huskies, Lisa Jensen has already started 26 games, including 18 of 19 this year.  A defender, Jensen even scored her first goal this game, raising high for a header against Seattle off a corner.  The Seattle-area native has helped the Huskies record ten shutouts this year as well, with Washington allowing just 0.79 goals per game.

What does it feel like to play at Husky Soccer Stadium?
Jensen: I'm from Seattle, so playing at Husky Soccer Stadium feels extra special. Of all the fields we get to play at during our season, playing at home, at night, under the lights would have to be my favorite.

What is something the coaching staff has taught you off the field?
Jensen: One of my biggest takeaways from my coaches is how important friendships are. Lesle and Amy are two people who value the impact that others have had in their lives to get them to where they are today. They've also placed a lot of emphasis on recognizing the privileges that we have as student athletes and my education at UW is one of those privileges that I feel very fortunate to have.

What is it like to play in the Pac-12 Conference?
Jensen: The Pac-12 is fast, competitive, and packed with some tough opponents. My second experience in Pac-12 I got a full taste of the elements against Berkeley at their home. It was not my best showing to say the least, but it gave me a good lesson as to what was ahead for the season.

What is your favorite thing about living in Seattle?
Jensen:  I'd have to say looking at Mt. Rainier every day. I'll never get tired of that view! I like having pretty easy access to the mountains to ski and the water. The light rail has been a sweet addition to get into the city too.

What are your favorite things to do in the summer in Seattle?
Jensen: There's nothing quite like a game of hacky-sack at Greenlake, followed by a dip in the lake. That's after waking up to a nice pot of joe in the morning.

What are some of your earliest memories of playing soccer?
Jensen: I grew up on Whidbey Island so most of my memories of soccer were hopping around to all my sister's games as a little one. I loved the 3v3 tournaments we played in. In those days I used to donkey-kick celebrations, but I'm happy to say I've graduated from that phase.

Who is your biggest inspiration in why you play soccer?
Jensen: My sister. As the baby in the family with three older sisters who all played, I knew I always wanted to be like them. My sister Carrie and I played on the same high school team and those are still some of my favorite memories. My sisters are my best friends and best supporters.

What do you love most about playing soccer?
Jensen: The team aspect. I love the feeling of being able to accomplish something as a unit. Doing an individual sport is different because you miss out on that experience. I like working for others who do the same for me. You get to compete alongside some of your closest friends, which is a pretty cool thing to be a part of.

Who were your favorite players growing up?
Jensen: As a defender I've really enjoyed following players like Christie Rampone and Becky Sauerbrunn. They are solid defenders and so consistent in their positions. They are great about commanding a back line and they're just fun to watch. Michelle Akers is a soccer legend. She really holds her own for all female soccer players.

Can you talk about some of the experiences that have been opened up to you through the sport and how have they changed your life?
Jensen: How to work with others. That's a valuable skill to have both in and out of soccer. This is something that will carry me through life.
