SEATTLE -- The Atlanta Tipoff Club released the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List on Thursday with Kelsey Plum among the 50 players recognized. The Husky junior leads the nation in scoring and was a candidate for the same award last season.
Plum is off to a hot start for the 6-2 Dawgs, averaging 28.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists on the season. She is also tied for the national lead with 63 made free throws, while shooting 90 percent from the line.
The Poway, Calif., native surpassed 1,500 points earlier this season for her career and is currently 11th among active scorers with 1,685 points, the only junior in the top-20. She already has four 30-point games this season and now has 15 for her career.
Plum also leads the Pac-12 in minutes played and ranks in the top-10 in assists, steals and 3-pointers made.
Plum was already named to the Wooden Award Watch List and will be considered for WBCA All-America honors at season's end. She was one of eight Pac-12 players on the Naismith Watch List, joining Ruth Hamblin, Jamie Weisner and Sydney Wiese of Oregon State, Jillian Alleyne of Oregon, Jordin Canada of UCLA, Courtney Range of California and Lili Thompson of Stanford
