Create With Purpose: Huskies To Wear Special Black History Month Uniforms
1/31/2024
On Friday, Feb. 2, Washington women's basketball will be wearing the uniforms at home in Alaska Airlines Arena vs. Utah. On Saturday, Feb. 17, the men's team will wear the uniforms vs. California.

The Story Behind The Uniform
These uniforms are about respect and acknowledgement to the Black leaders and influencers of the past, while celebrating and showing love to those history-makers of today and tomorrow and giving them their flowers while they’re still here.
The theme carried over from last season - “Flowers While They're Still Here” - is meant to honor the Black community by showing love and acknowledgment to Black leaders and influencers of today and tomorrow. It was chosen to show appreciation and gratitude for Black culture and the achievements of Black individuals.

The color palette is grounded in Washington's team colors, but with a unique twist on the base color.
The cream base color is symbolic of the “Cream of the Planet” while the flower detail plays off “Flowers While They're Still Here.”

The season colors are inspired by flowers native to the area to create distinctive, vibrant color schemes. Fittingly, the flowers represented on Washington's uniforms are cherry blossoms.

Create With Purpose
This season's addition of "Create with Purpose" is how adidas plans to showcase athletes and partners in how they're leading with purpose to create new narratives of the Black community and how they're paying it forward to support the next generation of athletes and top creators.
