A letter to UW written by Washington Women's Golf senior Winnie Ng
Dear Washington,
Oh wait…How did I get here?
I am ready to express my gratitude on my time here at the University of Washington with my heart filled with both joy and a tinge of melancholy. These past few years have been nothing short of transformative and I am incredibly grateful for the experiences, friendships, and growth that I have encountered during my college golf and academic journey at UW.
These past few years have been nothing short of transformative and I am incredibly grateful for the experiences, friendships, and growth that I have encountered during my college golf and academic journey at UW.
When I first stepped foot onto this campus, I had no idea of the incredible impact it would have on my life. The golf program at UW has provided me with countless opportunities for personal, athletic and academic development. Through grueling workouts, training and competitive tournaments, I have witnessed firsthand the power of dedication, resilience, and teamwork. My coaches (MaryLou, Courtney, Anna and David) have been mentors and guides, pushing me to surpass my own limits and encouraging me to strive for greatness. Their unwavering belief in my abilities has been a constant source of inspiration.
But it is not just the sport that has made my time here so memorable. It is the people – my teammates, coaches, professors and friends – who have become my second family. Together, we have laughed, cried, celebrated victories, and supported each other through defeats. I am forever grateful for the friendships forged on the golf course and beyond. I will forever remember the retreats and trips with all of you!

The University of Washington holds a special place in my heart. From the breathtaking views of Mount Rainier on campus to the vibrant and diverse community that embraces each individual's unique journey, this university has provided me with an environment where I could thrive both academically and athletically. The memories created here will forever be etched in my mind, and the lessons learned will guide me as I embark on the next chapter of my life.
As I look to the future, I carry with me the indelible imprint that Washington has left on my heart. The experiences and challenges have molded me into a stronger, more determined individual. The skills I have honed on the golf course – discipline, patience, and mental fortitude – will undoubtedly transcend the boundaries of sports and positively impact my future endeavors.
To the University of Washington, thank you for providing me with a platform to chase my dreams, for fostering an environment that nurtured my growth, and for introducing me to a community of exceptional individuals. I will cherish these moments, these opportunities, and these memories for a lifetime. Although I may physically leave this place, the spirit of the Husky will forever be ingrained in my soul.
Lastly, to everyone who has been a part of my journey. Thank you and I appreciate all of you!
