Washington to Honor 1991 National Championship Team with Throwback Uniform
8/31/2021
This fall marks the 30th anniversary of UW’s ‘91 National Championship.
Adidas has brought back that design from the early 90s with a few surprises.
Washington's throwback uniform features block numerals and the classic purple and white while introducing a brighter shade of gold on the pant to tie back to the look of the 1991 kit.

The “Panting Dawg” logo makes its return and is featured not only on the hip, but on the helmet as well.

The look is completed with reflective stripes on the shoulder caps to celebrate this championship homage.
Washington will wear the 1991 Throwback uniforms for the Homecoming game vs. UCLA at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 16.
As part of the Homecoming festivities, team captains from the 1991 National Championship team, Mario Bailey and Brett Collins, will join the James family, Carol, Jeff and Jennifer, as Honorary Captains for the pregame coin toss on Saturday.
During the game, the classic “Panting Dawg” logo will be utilized on the stadium videoboard, and this week’s “Featured Flashback” segment will highlight great moments from the 1991 season.
Additionally, fans can meet Mike Gastineau, author of Fear No Man: Don James, the '91 Huskies, and the Seven-Year Quest for a National Football Championship at the Husky Team Store. Copies of the book are available for purchase.
The replica jersey is on sale now!
