Dear Washington,
Thank you for all that you have given to me. The long-lasting friendships, loving memories, and amazing opportunities I’ve been granted, all because as a teenager I made the decision to attend this school. I am forever grateful that I was given this opportunity all those years ago.
Being a GymDawg has certainly been the best thing that has happened to me. Being a part of something bigger than myself has taught me so much about teamwork, grit, and enjoying those around you. For these last four years I have had the privilege to work alongside some of the most skilled gymnasts and coaches in the nation. My team has been comprised of some of the most determined and hardworking young women. But I think the reason I love them all so much is because of the kindness, humor, and light they have brought to my life. The bonds I have created with them have been by far the most memorable part of my journey through UW.
Academically, I have been granted the opportunity to pursue a top tier education at one of the most highly acclaimed public universities in the nation. The support staff here has guided me towards success on the competition floor and in the classroom.
Washington has been the place I’ve called home for these last four years. The place that has molded me into the young adult that I am today. I could not imagine the person I’d be today without the people I’ve met and experiences I’ve had here.
I’m proud to be a Husky. I’m proud to have represented my school on an academic and athletic level. And I am forever proud to wear purple and gold.
Sincerely,
Maya Washington
