Dear Washington: Madison Copiak

Dear Washington,
It seems like it was only yesterday when I was a 15-year-old yearning to be a collegiate athlete at an institution like yours; now that chapter of my life has concluded and I feel so whole. I must thank you for cultivating that growth in me and so many others. You are so special and it is the people at Washington that makes this place so impactful. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime, I have gained lifelong supporters, mentors and, most importantly, I have been blessed with a family.
Not only have I had the opportunity to attend one of the top public universities in the United States, I have been able to be a part of something that is much larger than myself: being a GymDawg.
Being a GymDawg has been nothing but a dream come true. Not because of the success we have had as a program, but rather because of the people I have spent countless hours with; those who have had my back, who have pushed me to be better, who have picked me up when I have fallen. I have been able to be a part of something much larger than myself and for that, I am forever grateful. Being a GymDawg has introduced me to the most caring group of young women. It is a truly incredible experience to witness the growth and success of every single person on the team.
The opportunities and experiences I have had access to through such a top-tier institution have provided me with numerous connections and opportunities that I never imagined having. I would not be the strong, confident women I am today if it weren't for the people and support at the University of Washington. Thank you for becoming a place I can call home, a place where I feel supported, cherished and where I can I be my true self. I am very proud to call myself a Husky and to have represented Washington for four years.
