Happy Birthday, Ken Nelson!
11/10/2020
Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium isn't the only one celebrating a Centennial year this November.
Husky fan Ken Nelson is celebrating his 100th birthday on Nov. 10, just days before Husky Stadium's official Centennial date on Nov. 27.

“He is a long-standing Tyee Member, donated to the [Huskies All In] fund this year, [and is a] many-year football season ticket holder,” Ken's son, Bryan Nelson, told Washington Athletics.
“He was born and raised one mile from the stadium,” Bryan said. “[Ken] went to many games as a young kid, snuck in a few times over the fence when had no money during the Depression, ushered there as a Boy Scout, and…is 17 days older than the stadium!
“Ken graduated from the UW, as well as his late wife Barbara, got his Navy ROTC commission for the UW in March 1944, served in WWII and Korean War and Navy reserve with over 35 years service to our country.”

"He is in great health...for 100, and has been watching a lot of ‘Pac-12 in 60’ this summer/fall getting ready for the season.
“He has his Husky game day condo in the Eastlake neighborhood, but spends most of his time on the magical shores of Hood Canal near Tahuya, Wash., eating fresh seafood including ‘BBQ Oysters Nelson’ from his beach - or the ‘fountain of youth’!”
Thanks to Bryan for sharing his father's story. Happy Birthday, Ken!
