Contributions Up And Down Lineup Lead To 6-2 Victory - University of Washington Athletics

BERKELEY, Calif. – The #6 Washington Huskies clinched another Pac-12 series victory with a 6-2 win over the Cal Golden Bears. Morganne Flores' 12^th home run of the season tied the game up, with Taryn Atlee and Kaija Gibson helping secure the win with two-hit days. Five different Huskies had RBI as Washington moved to 31-6 on the year and 8-3 in Pac-12 play.

Washington's 18-inning scoreless streak came to an end in the game when Cal struck in the first inning for two runs after a Husky error. It was the first deficit the Huskies have faced during their now nine-game win streak and would only last until the fourth inning, when four runs by Washington put the Huskies on top for good.

Taran Alvelo, who earned the win, faced a bit of pressure in the fourth after back-to-back singles started the frame for Cal. The senior stranded those runners on second and third after a sac bunt with a strikeout and routine popup, killing Cal's best chance. That was the start of 12 straight batters retired by Alvelo and Gabbie Plain, who took over in the fifth and closed out the victory.

		SCORING
First Inning: An uncharacteristic error by the Huskies gave Cal an early 2-0 lead. Fourth Inning: Flores' eighth home run in her last ten games tied the game back up. Four straight singles by the Dawgs, all with two outs, put two more runs on the board. Fifth Inning: With the bases loaded, Atlee and Gibson drove in two more runs, first on Atlee's fielder's choice, then on a single to center by Gibson.

Sis Bates (1x3, 2 R, BB) has now hit .611 over her six-game hit streak. Flores (1x2, HR, 2 RBI) tied Julia DePonte for 12^th in UW history with her 33^rd career homer. Flores has driven in 14 runs over her last eight games, with at least one RBI in each. Gibson (2x3, R, RBI) has a five-game hitting streak, tied for the longest of her career. Alvelo (4.0 IP, 1 ER) passed Jamie Graves for fourth in UW history with her 92^nd win. Atlee (2x4, R, RBI) has back-to-back multi-hit games.
