SEATTLE – The #7 Washington Huskies struck early and held firm in the lead, beating Oregon State 5-2 in the first game of the weekend series.
Morganne Flores homered for the second consecutive game, while
Sis Bates reached base to leadoff the first and third innings, coming around to score both times.
Gabbie Plain threw 19 first-pitch strikes in the game, cruising to her 11
th win. She would give up two runs, both on solo home runs, while recording eight strikeouts.
The first four spots in the order all had hits for Washington, hitting a combined .600. Bates and
Sami Reynolds scored two runs. Flores, Reynolds,
Taryn Atlee, and
Kaija Gibson had Washington's RBI.
