Run-Rule Shutout Finishes Husky Sweep Of Oregon - University of Washington Athletics

EUGENE, Ore. – The #7 Washington Huskies finished off a series sweep of the Oregon Ducks with another run-rule victory, shutting out the Ducks 8-0 in five innings. Washington struck for six runs in the second inning to chase Oregon's starter early and cruise to victory.

It was Sami Reynolds and Noelle Hee that did much of the damage for the Huskies, with the pair driving in five runs between them. Morganne Flores had her second straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-2. Sis Bates and Kaija Gibson each scored two runs, with Gibson homering again after hitting a grand slam on Sunday.

Taran Alvelo settled in quickly, retiring 12 straight to finish the game after allowing a double to start the second inning. She picked up her 13^th win and 25^th career shutout in the game. She only allowed three baserunners in the game and ended the game striking out the last two batters.

		SCORING
Second Inning: Washington took advantage of a lack of control in the circle by the Ducks, drawing three walks and an HBP before singles by Reynolds and Hee made it 6-0. Third Inning: For the second at-bat in a row after last night's grand slam, Gibson homered, making it 7-0. Fourth Inning: Hee drove in her third run with a grounder, making it 8-0.

		NOTES
Bates (0x1, 2 R, 2 BB) has reached base six times in her last seven plate appearances. Reynolds (1x3, R, 2 RBI) drove in runs every game of the series. Gibson (1x2, 2 R, HR, BB) has now reached base safely in six consecutive plate appearances. Hee (1x3, 3 RBI) had her seventh career multi-RBI game. Flores (2x2, R, RBI, HBP) has score six runs and driven in seven over her last four games.

Washington returns to action on Montlake shortly, hosting Cal Poly this Wednesday, March 27 at 3:00 pm. That will be before a home Pac-12 series against Oregon State beginning Friday, March 29.
