OKLAHOMA CITY - With the announcement by USA Softball of the World Championship and Word Cup teams, the Huskies find themselves well represented, with two past players in Ali Aguilar and Courtney Gano and current infielder Sis Bates all being named to the teams.
Aguilar will represent the United States as a part of the World Cup of Softball team and at the World Championship, set for August 2-12 in Chiba, Japan. Gano and Bates will be a part of the United States' second team at the World Cup and will represent the USA at the Japan All-Star Series.
Most recently, Aguilar was a part of the USA team that won the Pan American Championship in late August as well as the team that went 3-1 at the Japan Cup. In her final season with the Huskies, Aguilar led the team to a 12th Women's College World Series and was named an All-American.
Bates enters her sophomore year with the Huskies having already played for the US Junior National Team. She was named a NFCA Freshman of the Year finalist and a part of the Pac-12 All-Freshman team after hitting .330 with 19 extra-base hits.
Gano was named All-Pac-12 after her senior season with the Huskies in 2016, leading the team with 18 home runs and 59 RBI. She is currently a part of the National Pro Fastpitch League's Chicago Bandits.
