After two injury-ravaged seasons, Jessica Udovich started all 20 games for the Huskies in 2017 and was a major part of a record-setting defense. Udovich played the second-most minutes of any Husky, sitting for just 45 minutes all season. She was also named the Nike Portland Invitational Defensive MVP and the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 10, earning some recognition for her strong play in central defense.
What does it feel like to play at Husky Soccer Stadium?
Udovich: Playing in Husky Soccer Stadium means I get to do the thing that I love with the people I love.
What is something the coaching staff has taught you off the field?
Udovich: The coaching staff has taught me that being a Husky is more than just playing soccer but about being a family and always being there for each other.
What is it like to play in the Pac-12 Conference?
Udovich: Playing in the Pac-12 is very competitive which makes it exciting to compete with some of the best girls my age.
What is your favorite thing about living in Seattle?
Udovich: My favorite thing about living in Seattle is that there is a million things you can do inside or outside. I love being able to go anywhere and be able to swim or hike.
What are your favorite things to do in the summer in Seattle?
Udovich: My favorite things to do in summer here in Seattle are hiking and swimming in Lake Washington.
What are some of your earliest memories of playing soccer?
Udovich: My earliest memory of playing soccer is when I was 7 years old playing in a 3v3 tournament in Florida for the Disney World National Tournament.
Who are your biggest inspirations in why you play soccer?
Udovich: My parents are my biggest inspirations in why I play soccer because my dad is my #1 fan and would always tell me what I did good or need to get better at after games and my mom for taking me to everything, coming to all my games, and also being one of my biggest fans.
What do you love most about playing soccer?
Udovich: I love the feeling of accomplishing a common goal with all of my best friends.
Who were your favorite players growing up?
Udovich: To be honest, I never really had a favorite player when I grew up, I just loved to play.
Can you talk about some of the experiences that have been opened up to you through the sport and how have they changed your life?
Udovich: The most important experience that this sport has allowed me to have is coming to such an amazing school to get my education and to travel to new places and making this worlds an even smaller place by meeting so many awesome people through\ all my years of soccer.
