SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Washington Women's Golf Team posted their second-straight top 10 finish after posting a 54-over 930 (304-316-310) at the 2017 Bruin Wave Invitational Tuesday afternoon. Washington placed two in the top 15 and four in the top 35.

"Today's result was not what we wanted but we did see some growth out of our young team despite the conditions," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "Karen once again had a solid round and wasn't fazed. She continues to play consistently which is good to see. Overall, against a tough field and difficult conditions, I thought our young players handled themselves well and can learn from this going forward."

The Huskies were led by freshman Karen Miyamoto and sophomore Wenyung Keh who both tied for 15th at 5-over 231. Miyamoto had her best round of the 56-hole event on Tuesday as she carded a 3-over 76 to climb nine spots on the leaderboard. She finished with scores of 77-78-76 on the par-73 course. It's also her second-straight top-15 finish in just her third tournament as a Husky.

Keh matched Miyamoto's score after carding a 5-over 78 during the final 18 holes to move up one spot on the leaderboard. Keh's scorecard for the week was 73-80-78 en route to her first top 15 finish of the spring campaign.

Freshman Christina Wang registered her first top 20 effort as a Husky as she tied for 20th with a 13-over 232 (77-76-79). She was followed by sophomore Julianne Alvarez who matched her round score during the final 18 to finish at 17-over 236 (77-82-77), moving 11 spots up on the leaderboard. Rounding out scoring for the Huskies was freshman EunWon Park who carded a 24-over243 (77-83-83) to place tied for 56th.

UCLA's Lilia Vu won the individual title finishing at even-par 219 (70-74-75) while No. 1 Stanford took home the team title at 26-over 902.

Washington has a month off before it's next tournament at the LSU Invite March 24-26 in Baton Rouge.
