SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced its All-Conference team Wednesday and two Huskies – Tyler Davis and Braden Bishop – were named to the squad. Bishop also was named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team.
Davis, a senior right-handed pitcher from Mountain View, Calif., ended the season 8-6 with a 3.20 ERA in 15 starts. He ranked second in the Conference with 112 2/3 innings pitched and tied for second with 8 wins. He was also third with 93 strikeouts. His inning total ranks third all-time in UW single-season history, while his strikeout total is ninth most.
Davis is just the third UW pitcher to earn All-Conference recognition twice. He joins Tim Lincecum (2004, 2005, 2006) and Gary Blouin (1985, 1986) as multiple winning Huskies.
He leaves Washington as the team's all-time career leader with 358 2/3 innings pitched and was also second with 50 starts and fourth in wins (23), strikeouts (247) and appearances (76).
Davis, a 2014 All-American, was a 2015 Midseason Golden Spikes Watch member a year after being a semifinalist for the award.
Bishop, a junior outfielder from San Carlos, Calif., earned his first All-Conference nod after being named honorable mention in 2014. With an OPS of .834, Bishop displayed both power and speed this season on offense. He had an on-base percentage of .394 and slugging percentage of .440. The right-hander had an average of .295 on the year with 19 extra-base hits, including 14 doubles, a triple and a career-high 4 home runs. He ranked first on the team with 57 hits, 38 runs, 23 walks and 15 stolen bases and second on the team with 25 runs batted in.
Bishop was also excellent with the glove, earning All-Defensive honors for a second-straight season. He finished the year with a .992 fielding percentage, making just one error in 120 chances. He also showed off his strong throwing arm with four outfield assists and took numerous base hits away chasing down fly balls and making diving catches.
Four other Huskies earner Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 recognition: freshman pitcher Noah Bremer, senior infielder Branden Berry, junior catcher Austin Rei and junior pitcher Troy Rallings.
Arizona's Scott Kingery was Player of the Year, UCLA's David Berg was Pitcher of the Year and UCLA's John Savage was Coach of the Year. KJ Harrison of Oregon State was named Freshman of the Year, while catcher Garrett Stubbs of USC was the Defensive Player of the Year.
