SEATTLE – The University of Washington men's tennis team has announced that Amit Batta has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UW beginning in fall of 2016.
“I am excited that we have signed Amit,” head coach Matt Anger said. “He is an all-court player that can help us in singles and doubles.”
Batta hails from Los Altos, California and where he attends Monta Vista High School. He is a 5-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net and is currently ranked the No. 51 player in the nation. He has been trending upwards for years now, moving from No. 287 in 2013 to No. 139 in 2014 before his current class rank.
“He is just now playing his best tennis,” said Anger of Batta. “The Best is yet to come.”
The U.S. Tennis Association has him ranked the No. 2 player in Northern California for 18 and under, and he recently reached the 3
rd round of the National Championships in August in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He currently holds a Universal Tennis Rating of 12.54, which would put him 6
th on the Husky's roster.
