
Ali Aguilar Nominated For Sports Star Of The Year

SEATTLE - The Seattle Sports Commission announced the nominees for the 83rd annual MTRWestern Sports Star of the Year awards, with Washington's own Ali Aguilar nominated for Female Sports Star of the Year. Voting for the awards closes Friday, January 26 at 5:00 pm and is available to all fans online.
Aguilar finished her senior season in 2017 with her second career All-American honor and a trip to the Women's College World Series. Aguilar was also named to the CoSIDA All-Academic Team, the NFCA All-Region Team, the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team, and the All-Pac-12 First Team after hitting .352/.480/.665. The California native led the Huskies in runs with 62 and home runs with 14, including four during the postseason.
Aguilar ended her playing career as the all-time leader in runs scored for Washington. She was also seventh in doubles, fifth in home runs, and ninth in RBI. She was named All-Region all four of her years at UW and was a All-Pac-12 performer three times in addition to making the All-Freshman team in 2014.
In addition to Aguilar, Washington's women's basketball player Chantel Osahor is nominated for Female Sports Star of the Year, while Husky football's Dante Pettis is nominated for Male Sports Star of the Year. Make sure to vote online.
